Almost every 3rd person is overweight or obese worldwide!

The results of the recently conducted study on obesity by The GBD 2015 Obesity Collaborators (2017) are not surprising but still, very shocking: 2,2 billon people are overweight or even obese, with an increase of 100 % in 70 countries over the past 35 years. The study analysed health data from 195 countries, highlighting the risk factor of an increased body-mass-index (BMI) for several chronic diseases.

European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) is targeting childhood obesity by requesting food companies to stop using cartoon characters to promote foods for children. Furthermore, EuropeActive has successfully taken action with the ALCIS projects: promoting more physical activity and a healthy lifestyle to school children.
