Happy #BEACTIVE week!

The EU is celebrating the European Week of Sport, a week full of active and sportive events across all member states. The European Commission has launched the European Week of Sport to help raise awareness of the risks related to inactivity and with the aim to “promote sport and physical activity across Europe”. The Week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, the week wants to inspire Europeans to #BeActive on a regular basis and to create more and better opportunities in peoples' everyday lives to be more physically active.

The annual campaign brought together 10 million people with 26,700 events in 34 countries already on its 4th day. The week kicked off on Saturday, September 22 in Vienna which coincided with the Austrian Day of Sport. European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics welcomed the delegates to the official opening ceremony of the European Week of Sport during the afternoon. Part of the event was the European Village, an exhibition to promote sport and physical activity projects and initiatives from all member states, a signature ceremony of the new Partners of the European Week of Sport and the honouring of Austrian Champions.
